Qualitative and Quantitative research methods
Qualitative Research is primarily exploratory research. It is used to gain an understanding of underlying reasons, opinions, and motivations. It provides insights into the problem or helps to develop ideas or hypotheses for potential quantitative research.
Data analysis
is a process of inspecting, cleansing, transforming, and modeling data with the goal of discovering useful information, suggesting conclusions, and supporting decision-making.
Scientific Report Writing
The scientific method, you'll probably recall, involves developing a hypothesis, testing it, and deciding whether your findings support the hypothesis. In essence, the format for a research report in the sciences mirrors the scientific method but fleshes out the process a little.
Literature Review and Referencing
A literature review is not an annotated bibliography in which you summarize briefly each article that you have reviewed. While a summary of the what you have read is contained within the literature review, it goes well beyond merely summarizing professional literature.
Data Modelling and Mining
refers to a group of processes in which multiple sets of data are combined and analyzed to uncover relationships or patterns. The goal of data modeling is to use past data to inform future efforts. Data mining is a step in the data modeling process.
